Terms & Conditions

These terms explain the rules that apply when you use the DTHA website, request an evaluation, book a service or participate in a DTHA program.

Service-specific details

Your booking confirmation, program description and signed forms may add terms for a particular service.

Safety comes first

Participants must follow coaching, facility and safety directions and provide accurate information relevant to participation.

No guaranteed outcome

Coaching, evaluation and opportunity guidance support development but do not guarantee selection, placement or advancement.

Section 01

Acceptance and scope

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the DTHA | Hockey Academy website, evaluation requests, consultations, coaching, testing, scouting, video review, clinics, development groups and opportunity programs provided by DTHA (“DTHA,” “we,” “us” or “our”).

By using the website, submitting a request, confirming a booking or participating in a service, you agree to these Terms. A separate booking confirmation, invoice, program description, facility rule, consent form or participant waiver may also apply. If a service-specific document conflicts with these general Terms, the service-specific document will govern for that service to the extent of the conflict.

These website Terms do not replace any informed-consent, medical, emergency-contact or assumption-of-risk document required before on-ice, off-ice or testing activities.
Section 02

Players, parents and guardians

  • Players who are 18 or older may accept these Terms and provide instructions for themselves.
  • For a player under 18, a parent or legal guardian must make or authorize the booking, provide required consents and ensure that information supplied to DTHA is accurate.
  • A person submitting information or making a booking for another individual confirms that they have authority to do so.
  • DTHA may request proof of age, guardian authority or other information reasonably needed to administer a program safely and appropriately.
Section 03

Services, evaluations and recommendations

DTHA may recommend a service, cohort, development focus or opportunity pathway based on the information available at the time. Recommendations are professional opinions intended to guide development; they are not medical advice, a guarantee of improvement or a promise of any team, school, scholarship, contract, roster position or other outcome.

Player development depends on many factors outside DTHA’s control, including attendance, effort, health, maturity, team environment, competition, coach decisions and available opportunities. DTHA may adjust a training plan, group placement or recommendation when reasonably necessary for safety, development quality or program fit.

Section 04

Bookings, scheduling and attendance

  • A request is not a confirmed booking until DTHA accepts it and provides confirmation.
  • Participants should arrive on time with the equipment, clothing and documentation identified for the session.
  • Late arrival may reduce the available session time. DTHA is not required to extend a session when the participant arrives late.
  • Schedules, coaches, facilities and program details may change for operational, safety or availability reasons. DTHA will provide reasonable notice when practical.
  • A participant who cannot attend should contact DTHA as soon as possible using the contact information in the booking confirmation.
Section 05

Fees, payment and taxes

Fees, deposits, payment dates, included services and applicable taxes will be stated in the relevant quote, invoice, checkout page or booking confirmation. Unless otherwise stated, payment is due by the date shown and a place may not be reserved until the required payment is received.

  • You are responsible for providing accurate billing information and for any payment-provider charges that your provider imposes.
  • Past-due amounts may result in suspension of future sessions or program access.
  • Any refund, credit or transfer is subject to the cancellation terms below and any service-specific written policy.
Section 06

Cancellations, rescheduling and program changes

The cancellation, rescheduling and refund rules stated in the booking confirmation or program agreement apply to that booking. If no service-specific rule is provided, contact DTHA promptly and we will assess reasonable rescheduling, credit or refund options based on notice, committed costs and the ability to fill the reserved time.

DTHA may cancel, postpone, relocate or modify a session or program because of facility closure, unsafe conditions, coach illness, insufficient enrolment, travel disruption or another event outside reasonable control. When DTHA cancels and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, the unused amount paid for the affected service will be credited or refunded, subject to applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits cancellation, refund or other consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or reduced.
Section 07

Health, safety and participation

Hockey, skating, fitness testing and athletic training involve physical exertion and inherent risks, including falls, collisions, contact with equipment or other participants, and aggravation of an existing condition. Participants must follow all safety instructions and use properly fitted equipment appropriate to the activity.

  • The participant or guardian is responsible for deciding whether the participant is medically able to take part and for obtaining professional medical advice when appropriate.
  • Relevant injuries, restrictions, allergies or conditions that may affect safe participation should be disclosed through the appropriate confidential process before the activity.
  • DTHA may pause or end participation when a coach reasonably believes continued participation is unsafe.
  • In an apparent emergency, DTHA may contact emergency services and the listed emergency contact. Any resulting third-party costs remain the participant’s responsibility unless the law requires otherwise.

A separate assumption-of-risk, informed-consent or facility waiver may be required. Any such document applies according to its own wording and applicable law.

Section 08

Conduct, respect and facilities

Players, parents, guardians and guests must behave respectfully toward coaches, staff, officials, facility personnel and other participants. Harassment, discrimination, threats, violence, deliberate damage, unsafe conduct, intoxication, illegal activity or repeated disruption is not permitted.

Participants must follow arena, gym, school, testing-site and third-party facility rules. DTHA may remove or suspend a person whose conduct is unsafe, abusive or materially disruptive. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, removal for misconduct may be without refund.

Section 09

Scouting, NAP, EP and opportunity guidance

DTHA may provide evaluation, introductions, guidance and administrative support relating to teams, schools, billets, housing, travel or other opportunities in Canada, the United States or Europe. Final decisions are made by independent teams, schools, leagues, families, housing providers, immigration authorities and other third parties.

  • DTHA does not guarantee tryouts, offers, admission, visas, roster positions, playing time, scholarships, contracts, housing approval or advancement.
  • Families remain responsible for reviewing third-party terms, costs, eligibility, travel, insurance, immigration, education and housing arrangements before committing.
  • Information about teams, schools and opportunities may change and should be independently verified before a decision is made.
Section 10

Video, submitted content and intellectual property

When you submit video, photographs, statistics, documents or other material for evaluation or coaching, you confirm that you have the right and any necessary permission to provide it. You give DTHA permission to use that material only as reasonably needed to deliver the requested service, maintain appropriate records and communicate recommendations.

DTHA will not use a participant’s name, image or footage for public marketing solely because it was submitted for coaching. Public promotional use requires separate permission where required.

The DTHA name, logos, website, training materials, written evaluations, graphics, videos and program content are owned by DTHA or used with permission. Unless DTHA agrees otherwise in writing, they may be used only for the participant’s personal, non-commercial development and may not be copied, sold, published, distributed, recorded or used to create competing materials.

Section 11

Website use, privacy and third-party services

You may use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, scrape content at scale or impersonate another person.

The website may link to or rely on third-party services such as payment, scheduling, maps, analytics, social media, email, forms or hosting. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices, and DTHA is not responsible for third-party websites or services that it does not control.

Personal information is handled as described in the DTHA Privacy Policy. Electronic communications and records may be used to administer inquiries and bookings, subject to applicable law.
